That's true of legal software, of a marathon training block, of a workbench, and — this part took longer to admit — of my own career. I have a religion degree, a JD, and a fullstack certificate, in that order, and for a long time I thought that was three separate people.

It's one instinct. Studying religion is asking why people believe what they believe. Practicing law is asking why a system is built the way it's built. Learning to code is asking what's actually happening under a button click. Different subjects, same question.
